When it comes to apparel, nothing flatters a young man’s physique better than a Speedo-style swimsuit. The suit leaves little to the imagination, but still complies with societal norms about public nudity.
I have spent much time in Europe during summer travels, and over there you’ll see guys in Speedos, swimming and sunning themselves at public pools, on the beach, and in city parks. But you never see American young men wear them, unless you’re attending a swim meet. And how sad. Oh, well, American men are modest about their bodies, aren’t they?
I spent a very pleasant evening with a friend I have know since childhood. Our homes were maybe 100 yards apart, and we enjoyed many boyhood adventures, mostly exploring the palmetto and pine forests near us. He cooked dinner for us last night and we did some planning for our Montana excursion we’ll take in mid-June.
Once again, I slept in late today, clocking about 10 hours in the bedroom. I’ll see my doctor Tuesday and talk to him about my lengthy sleep sessions, which are not normal for me.
It’s a very steamy day, here on the island, with the expected high around 90, and lots of humidity. We are in summertime weather mode, and I don’t like it at all, which is why I’m planning out-of-state trips over the next few months, so I won’t have to deal with the mugginess.
All right, everyone, I need to get busy. I’m assembling a piece of furniture for my vacation rental next door, a project that will take a good deal of time, but at least I’ll be in the air conditioning.
Have a nice Saturday, everyone.
