One more boy with an I-pod; another pretty night on the island ….

Hi, friends and readers:

Here’s one more photo of a cute boy with his earbuds in. I actually  created a fictional character using this boy as a model. The character’s name is Riley Davenport, and he appears in my short story, Dream Boy, which is included in my anthology, Flawed Boys.

Here’s how I described Riley in the story:

“The first time I saw Riley, he sat atop a lifeguard stand at the YMCA’s indoor pool, perhaps twenty feet from me. Shirtless and barefoot, he wore baggy swim trunks. His limbs were lanky, he was smooth-chested, and his dark hair contrasted with his fair skin. His torso tapered from broad shoulders to a narrow waist. As I studied him in the chlorine-scented natatorium, he yawned and stretched his arms, revealing wisps of armpit hair.

“Lifeguards at the YMCA had to be eighteen or older, so I knew Riley was legal, but looking at him that day, I was sure he’d barely met the age requirement. Something about his demeanor—hesitance in his movements and reluctance to make eye contact—suggested a dearth of life experience. Plus, he couldn’t seem to decide where to put his big hands and feet.”

Riley was a victim of childhood sexual abuse, inflicted by his step-father, and if you are looking for a light read, Dream Boy is not for you. It deals with some serious issues.

Anyway, if you’re interested in reading Dream Boy, you can find the Flawed Boys anthology here:

It’s beautiful here on the island tonight. I’m having a friend over for dinner, so it should be a nice evening. Have a great Friday night, everyone.

Cute boys and their I-pods; yet another perfect morning on the island ….

Hi, friends and readers:

Sometimes it drives me crazy how young men today are completely oblivious to their surroundings because they are listening to an I-pod with buds stuffed into their ear holes. But then again, I could sit on a park bench and watch Mr. Shirtless in the top photo for hours, and he wouldn’t even notice, would he? H-m-m-m-m …. 😉

Isn’t Mr. Shaggy Hair to the left here cute? I’ll bet he can do amazing things with that tongue of his.

I spent a very pleasant  evening with my best friend and his houseguest last night. We drank beer and wine, and dined on tasty Mexican takeout, and I even had leftovers to bring home for my lunch today. (Yay!)

After rising quite eraly the past two days, I slept in this morning, until ten. I woke feeling rested and ready for an easy day. Right after lunch I will visit the YMCA for a workout and lap-swimming session, then I’ll hit the supermarket and our island’s seafood market to supply myself for the  weekend. I’m hosting a good friend for dinner tonight; he and I went to Mardi Gras together a few weeks ago. I’m preparing a baked grouper dish, and it’ll be tasty.

Have a nice Friday, everyone.
