Christmas photos from Martin; bonfire on the island tonight ….

Hi, friends and readers:

Okay, I know you guys visit my site to see photos of sexy guys and all, but since we’re in the Christmas season, I decided this morning to put up a few holiday photos for you all to enjoy.

To the left here, you see my Christmas tree I put up about ten days ago. Now, you may ask yourself, “Why aren’t there any gifts under the tree?” Well, it’s because I am single at the moment (Though I am working on that as I speak.) and my only close relative is my sister, who has everything materially she wants. Same goes for my friends. So, the only gifts I am giving are Christmas cookies I will bake for my neighbors, a tradition I started many years ago, and which I always enjoy. This year I will bake three types of cookies, two are recipes from my north Georgia grandmother, and the other from my Pittsburgh, PA grandmother.

Here’s a photo of the Christmas cookies I baked last year. This year I am baking more cookies, as I didn’t feel I made enough last year. It’s always fun, delivering the cookies to the neighbors in my Santa cap, and I think they appreciate the effort I make. I guess you might call my cookie baking a “labor of love”. I plan to visit the supermarket Saturday afternoon to buy ingredients I will need, and then I will spend Saturday night baking cookies in the kitchen. I am really looking forward to it. čÖé

Every year, I have two close friends over for a special dinner at this time in December, and last night was the night. A third friend joined us this year, and I sure was glad to have him with us.

I built a blaze in my fire pit (That’s it to the left.) and once my friends arrived, I lit the charcoal grill. I cooked cheeseburgers using good ground chuck from our island market, and we enjoyed a fine meal. Actually, I think my guests enjoyed the wine and the fire pit as much as the meal, but that’s okay. It was a beautiful night, with nice weather and lots of laughter. After my guests left, I cleaned up the kitchen, then enjoyed a glass of wine by the fire pit. I reflected on how lucky I am to have the life I am blessed with.

Well, all right, I don’t have Tom Daley waving mistletoe at me, but you can’t have┬áeverything┬áyou’d like, can you? I have my good health, financial security, my friends and my comfortable home on this beautiful island, so no complaints. I’ve had a good year in the writing and publishing department, and my current novel-in-progress is moving right along.

I slept in late this morning, as I felt a bit tired after entertaining last night. I enjoyed a quick breakfast, and then decided to skip writing this morning and create this post. This afternoon, I will perform a thorough cleaning at my vacation rental apartment, as my winter guests will be arriving in about a week and I need to get things ready for them.

Tonight, our island community will enjoy our annual Christmas bonfire. People bring food and drink and it’s always a festive occasion. I have tasty leftovers for my dinner, so I am all set for the evening. Have a great Thursday, friends, and Merry Christmas from Martin.
