The world of BDSM. Why does it fascinate us so?

Hi, friends and readers:

Several years ago, my short novel, Passion Play was released. The book had a BDSM theme. Here’s the book’s blurb:

“Reverend Luke helps put on the Passion Play at his church every year. Nearly eighty parishioners get involved, and this year brothers James and Marcus Thibodeaux will be participate. James will play Jesus, but there’s a hitch; he’s deaf, so Marcus will act as translator.

“James is beautiful and young–almost angelic in appearance–and just the person to portray Jesus. Or is he?

“When Reverend Luke begins a sexual relationship with Marcus, he learns things about James that are hardly angelic. Can Reverend Luke convince James to be penitent and worthy of portraying Jesus?”

Passion Play sold briskly upon its release, and it still continues to sell today. I have often asked myself, “What is it about the BDSM scene that fascinates people so much?” And I think it has a good deal to do with dominance, the desire to exert utter control over another person, or submission, the urge to surrender one’s will to another. There is, no doubt, a sexual edge to BDSM, as it gets some people’s hearts thumping. And hey, as long as it is consensual, who is it harming?

Anyway, if you want to check out Passion Play you can find it here:

It’s a beautiful day, here on the island. The sun is shining and we’re headed for a high of 72 degrees F. I normally go to the YMCA on Fridays, but the weather’s so nice, I think I will skip the “Y” today. Instead I’ll take a three-mile walk after lunch, and then take a two-mile run around four PM. I have some errands to run in between, so my afternoon  will be busy.

Tonight I plan to trim my Christmas tree, my first in two years. Have a nice Friday, everyone. 🙂

One more boy with shaggy hair and some naked Christmas cheer; Martin’s mostly decorated ….

Hi, friends and readers:

Since you guys really liked this morning’s “shaggy-haired boys” photo posts, I thought I would share one more I especially like. He’s cute, isn’t he?

Well, this afternoon, I dove into getting my place decorated for Christmas. This involved climbing into my crawl space to retrieve boxes of lights and ornaments, along with my illuminating Frosty The Snowman and my tree stand.

I started with stringing exterior lights on my deck. I also put Frosty up there–it’s his official spot every year. The lights and Frosty are plugged into a timer that turns them on at dusk, so I don’t have to manually turn them on and off. Next, I used a cordless drill to drill a hole in the trunk of my tree, and then I fixed the tree onto my tree stand. (Okay, it’s a little crooked, so when I brought it into the house I had to use a few books to level things.)

I put my dancing Surfing Santa doll on my fireplace mantel along with lower limbs from  the Fraser Fir the guys at Home Depot trimmed from my tree. Then I put three strands of lights on the tree, which took me awhile because I always have a hard time getting the lights evenly distributed. But I finally succeeded, and now I just have to trim the tree with decorations. Maybe I’ll do that when I get home from my friend’s tonight.

If only I had a boyfriend, we could trim the tree naked like the guys to the left here. Looks like fun. 😉

It’s another chilly night, here on the island. I’ll be heading into town for a “boys’ night out” with my old friend. We’ve been doing this for forty years, and it’s a weekly tradition I always enjoy. You just can’t beat old friends, can you? Though I still enjoy making new ones too. In any event, I need to jump in the shower, so I will wish all of you a lovely Thursday evening. And keep smiling, it’s important. 🙂

Boys with shaggy hair; another chilly day on the island ….

????????????????????????????????????

Hi, friends and readers:

Young guys these days tend to spend a lot of time and money on their hair. These hipster haircuts you see that are super short on the sides and glued stiff on top require lots of maintenance. And while I think they’re okay on certain guys, I still think a young man with unkempt and shaggy hair takes the cake. I mean, don’t you think Mr. Blue T-Shirt to the left here is adorable? I wonder what his name is and where he lives? I’m guessing he’s…Kevin from Topeka, Kansas. He lives on a soybean farm, has five siblings, and lusts for a boy in his Geometry class. 😉

Well, I had a pleasant dinner with my friend last night. I dined on fresh clams with a white sauce over linguine, very tasty. And our bottle of Chianti was some of the best I’ve had, so the evening was a success. I got home around nine PM and turned on my fireplace. Then I just sat on the sofa, enjoying the flames while texting with a friend in Pensacola. I might visit him there next month.

Have a look at Mr. BMX to the left here. Yeah, he’s a little rough around the edges, but I kind of like that, plus he has great shaggy hair.

Anyway, this morning I ended up sleeping in late, even though I went to bed last night around eleven. I think I was tired from all the activities I engaged in yesterday, so I guess I needed the rest. I rose at 9:30 AM and made myself some breakfast. I skipped writing and read the newspaper instead, and now it’s eleven AM.

Outside, is’s chilly (56 degrees F) and a steady breeze is blowing from the northeast, making it seem even colder. I have a bunch of things I’ll need to do today, including getting my Christmas tree in its stand, re-mounting a window blind, and doing some cleaning in my place as well as in my vacation rental. Around four PM I’ll take a two-mile run for some exercise, and then around 5:30 PM I’ll drive into the city to spend the evening with my oldest friend, a weekly ritual.

Have nice Thursday, friends.

Beautiful Tom Daley; it’s COLD on the island tonight …. :-(

Hi, friends and readers:

I think British Olympic diver, Tom Daley, who you see here to the left, is a gorgeous young man, but I don’t just like him for his looks. He’s a real hero to me because he came out as an openly gay man via YouTube, knowing his announcement would generate a lot of criticism. It did, but Tom handled the situation with grace and humor, and then he went back to the Olympics and won another medal. Good for you Tom, you’re the greatest, and I’d certainly pick you up if I came upon you hitchhiking. 🙂

Today has been a fine one for me. I rose at eight AM, and after brewing coffee and enjoying a quick breakfast, I put in two solid hours at the keyboard, writing some very dramatic scenes for my novel-in-progress. I took a three-mile walk, here on the island, just before lunch. Then, right after lunch, I drove into the city to visit the YMCA for a full workout and a super-good lap swimming session. The pool water was warm and I was the only person swimming for a good part of the time I was there.

After I showered and left the YMCA, I visited Home Depot, where I bought a Fraser Fir Christmas tree I will decorate this weekend, and also a nice poinsettia plant for my fireplace mantel. My Christmas spirit has kicked in. 🙂

I’m home now. The poinsettia’s in place and my tree is sitting in a bucket of water on my patio to keep it fresh. By the time I got my car unloaded, darkness was falling and so was the temperature. It’s going down to 50 degrees F tonight here, and a steady wind is making it feel much colder. I’m meeting a friend for dinner at our favorite Italian place, where we will share a nice bottle of half-price wine with our meal. I’m looking forward to it, as always.

Have a nice Wednesday night, friends. And stay warm …. 🙂

Sexy boy in a beanie; chilly night on the island ….

Hi, friends and readers:

You don’t see many guys wearing beanies in Florida because it never gets that cold here very often. But tonight a beanie would come in very handy for anyone who has to work outdoors.

Outside, the sun is going down and the temperature is plunging toward the low 50’s. What’s worse, the wind is blowing out of the northwest at 20-25 MPH, which makes it feel even colder. It sure would be nice if I could curl up on the sofa with the boy in tonight’s photo post. We could snuggle and watch TV and keep each other warm and cozy. M-m-m-m …. 😉

Well, my dentist installed my new crown this afternoon and it looks and feels great. Afterward, I got my hair cut, and then I picked up fresh grouper at our island’s seafood market for tonight’s dinner. It’ll be yummy. 🙂

Have a nice Tuesday evening, friends. And stay warm.

Two beautiful actors: Ross Lynch and Ryan Phillippe; chilly day on the island ….

Hi, friends and readers:

I’m not a “starstruck” kind of guy, most actors on TV or in film don’t get my attention. But I find the young men in today’s photo posts very appealing.

The guy in the upper photo is Ross Lynch, who used to perform on the Disney Channel. I’ve actually never watched the how he was in, but now he’s all grown up and looking very sexy: great hair and skin, and nice athletic build. Definitely boyfriend material. I wonder what he’s up to today?

It’s a chilly and blustery day, here on the island. A cold front swept into central Florida last night, bringing some rain. After I finished writing this morning, and right around 11:30 AM, I took a three-mile walk, here on the island. I had to stick to the alleys while walking northward, to avoid facing the wind.

Okay, our second guy is movie actor Ryan Phillippe, as he looked at age eighteen. He was unbelievably pretty back then, and I’ll bet a lot of gay guys lusted for him while working alongside him in films. Now he’s around 35 years old, and not so pretty anymore, but he still looks good.

In just a few minutes, I will climb into my Element and drive into town to my dentist’s office, where he will install a new crown on one of my molars. The old one cracked after many years of service, so there goes another thousand dollars. 🙁 Oh well, you have to take care of your teeth, right?

I have little planned for the rest of my Tuesday, as my friend who I usually spend Tues evenings with is feeling ill and needs to stay home and rest. It’s okay, I’ll watch a Netflix movie and make myself a nice seafood dinner.

Have great Tuesday, friends.

One more favorite black-and-white photo; trip to gym a success ….

Hi, friends and readers:

The handsome guy you see to the left here is a model named Victor LeClerc. I assume he’s either French or perhaps he’s from Quebec, but whatever. I think he’s beautiful: great hair and skin, tall and lean with just the right amount of muscle. Definitely boyfriend material …. 😉

Well, my visit to the YMCA today–my first in three weeks–was a great success. My left hand didn’t hurt at all and I was able to use the usual amount of weight in all of my exercises, no problem. I didn’t get to swim laps because the pool was too crowded, but that was no big deal. It sure felt good to get my muscles pumping again. 🙂

I’m about to share a bottle of wine with my neighbors, so I must run. Have a great Monday night, friends.

Beautiful guys in black-and-white; Martin’s going back to the gym today ….

Hi, friends and readers:

You guys know how much I liked quality black-and-white photography, and this morning I’m putting up two of my all-time favorite b & w photos. I especially like the one to the left here, and not only because the young man’s beautiful, but because of the way the photographer caught the way water was flying off the young man’s head, and also because of the grin on the model’s handsome face. Superb …. 🙂

I went to bed rather early last night. I read a book for a while before my eyes grew drowsy, and then I killed the lights. I woke up this morning around 7:30, and got myself out of bed. I shaved and made my bed, and got myself dressed. I brewed coffee and made breakfast, then got busy at the keyboard writing fresh material for my novel-in-progress.

Now it’s around 10:30, and I am done writing for the day. Outside it’s warm and humid, as an approaching cold front is sucking up pressure from the south. A fairly stiff breeze is blowing from the southeast, and right after I finish this post, I will take a three-mile walk, here on the island, for some exercise.

Three weeks ago, I had a medical procedure performed on my left hand that left it swollen and sore. As a result, I have not goner to the gym since. Instead, I have done a lot of walking for exercise. But this afternoon, after I have lunch, I will visit the YMCA for a workout and lap-swimming. It’ going to feel good to get back into my exercise regimen, and to see all my friends I enjoy talking with whenever I’m working out. I’ll have to take it easy on my hand, of course, but I am sure I’ll be fine.

Have a nice Monday, friends, wherever you might be today. 🙂

Sexy in the locker room. A-h-h, the good old days ….

Hi, friends and readers:

I can remember my first day in the PE locker room in middle school. I grew up in a single parent home with my mom and sister. Suddenly, I was plunged into a room of naked boys, some of them three or four years older than me. I felt like a starving man who’d wandered into a banquet hall; I couldn’t keep my gaze off the ninth-graders’ bodies. I guess that was when I knew I was…different. 😉

Well, it has been a few years since middle school. (Many years.) But I still recall some of those guys vividly, and the boy to the left of me reminds me of a few. How I wished I could have ran my tongue over their smooth flesh and rippling muscles.

I’m home tonight, after a productive day. I thoroughly cleaned my Element, inside and out. I took a three-mile walk on the beach and did some yard work. My place looks great and so does my car. Now all I need is that guy in the locker room. 🙂

Have a nice Sunday night, friends.

In praise of slender guys; another perfect day on the island ….

Hi, friends and readers:

I know most gay men have a thing for guys with rippling muscles, and I get that. Beef is sexy. But I also find slender young men to be awfully sexy in their own way. When I was in my late teens and early twenties I was skinny as a rail, and I never thought I looked particularly attractive because I lacked much muscle on my frame. But now I look at photos of myself back then and realize I looked pretty sexy. I guess we all want what we don’t have, right? It’s human nature.

I was up at nine this morning, and after a quick breakfast, I took a cup of coffee to my office and got to work writing fresh material for my novel-in-progress. I wrote for a couple of hours, then I read the Sunday newspaper, which had some interesting articles in it. At least all the election hoopla in Florida has died down.

It’s another beautiful fall day, here on the island. The sun is shining, our high temperature will reach 73 degrees, and there’s no wind blowing, just a perfect Sunday for outdoor activities. After lunch, I will taker a three-mile walk on the beach for some exercise. I need to wash my car inside and out because, at this time of year, flocks of northern birds manage to crap on it no matter where I park. I have a little yard work to perform, and some correspondence to take care of, so my day will be busy.

I spent my late afternoon and early evening yesterday with an old friend. He had recorded the Florida/FSU football game (which started at noon) so we could watch it later in the day. The game was great from my perspective because the Gators romped, and will likely go to a major bowl game. It’s a far cry from, last year’s lousy season, and the first time the Gators have beaten FSU in five years.

All right, everyone, I need to get going, so I will close this post by wishing all of you a very happy Sunday, wherever you might be today. And keep smiling, it’s important. 🙂
