Hi, friends and readers:
When I look at the photos I have posted here this morning I’m transported back to my teenage years. I lived in a beach community–the Gulf of Mexico was only steps from my front door–and I spent my summers roaming the beach with my best friend, Curtis. We did everything together back then: surfing, skimboarding, pool-hopping at motels, and playing putter golf at a facility not far from our homes. I was a gay boy while Curtis was straight, but it didn’t matter. We always got along well and accepted each other’s differences. We even roomed together at University of Florida for two years.
I suppose every teenage boy deserves to have a best friend like Curtis, someone to hang with and to share secrets with. But I suspect there are lots of lonely boys out there who don’t have a best friend, and that’s kind of sad to think about.
The past few days have been kind of hectic. I deep into edits on the next novel I have coming out. I had a slew of projects to get done around the house, which are now completed. I had an early morning dental appointment yesterday, and then my handyman was here all afternoon yesterday, performing carpentry work and electrical repairs. I had to get my vacation rental apartment ready for my next guests, which ate up all of my Saturday. Sunday I performed a whole bunch of yard work and indoor housework before I hosted a friend for dinner. So, I am ready for a lazy day today.
Of course I have more editing to do on my novel, and I need to run a few errands this afternoon. I’ll take a two-mile run on the island this afternoon, but that’s about it. It’ll be nice just doing some reading on my back porch, and I don’t have a darn thing planned for my evening, which is fine.
Have nice Tuesday, everyone.
